2011-2012 Season

November 4-5, 2011 - The Lion in Winter
Set during Christmas at Henry II of England’s château, this historical costume drama depicts familial tensions and political games in equal turn. As the royal family wars within itself to decide who should inherit the throne, we see the lengths to which they are willing to sacrifice themselves and each other.  (Hint: not a musical.)

February 9-11 & 16,-18, 2012 - The Gondoliers; or The King of Baritaria
Often considered to be one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s greatest works, The Gondoliers is a dreamy, comic operetta that takes us through a number of entangled lives in Venice.  The show features everything you’d want in a classic G&S production: gorgeous faux-Italian music, convoluted wit, political satire, royal intrigue and most important above all, young, foolish love.

March 23, 2012The Certainly Not Sullivan Cabaret
Want even more musical theatre?  We’ve got the fix for all you showtune addicts!  The Certainly Not Sullivan Cabaret first made its debut in 2006.  This time around, the McGill Savoy Society is proud to present a one-night-only musical theatre revue at Gert’s.  Come to the bar, grab a few pints and enjoy some of the greatest hits of modern musical theatre.
