Art for Cox and Box

Cox and Box, a staple of the Victorian stage, is a one-act comic opera by F. C. Burnand and Arthur Sullivan, and Sullivan’s first successful comedy. Sgt. Bouncer is a shady landlord who surreptitiously rents an apartment to two different tenants, Mr. Cox and Mr. Box, figuring that since one works during the day and the other at night, they should never come to know of the scheme. Hijinks ensue when one of them gets the day off, but the two men soon come to learn they have more in common than they expected.

The McGill Savoy Society is proud to present an online version of Cox and Box as a side show, with a presentation of the dialogue and music of the full Savoy version of this classic one-act operetta. The production will premiere as a live stream on YouTube on July 24, 2021 at 7 p.m.. We are looking forward to seeing you on the stream!
