I can’t sing, dance or act, but I really want to be a part of Savoy. What can I do?
The McGill Savoy Society is an enormous club. What you see on stage is barely half of the entire team. There is the stage crew, the executive committee, the producers, and various members all working together as a team.
Why should I get involved?
There are many reasons: you like Gilbert & Sullivan, you enjoy performing, you want to try something new and different, you want to meet and work with new people, you want some experience in the theatre world, etc. But if I could only give you one reason, it would be: THE PARTIES! (well folks, there is *some* truth to this, but really, Savoy is AMAZING!)
Why not? We promote a warm “community” sensation, and believe that Society is the best way to portray what we do! When you are part of our productions, you open many doors, and have the opportunity to work with some very inspirational and talented individuals.
Does Savoy only put on Gilbert & Sullivan operettas?
Although it is not officially written in stone, it seems that year after year, we end up doing Gilbert & Sullivan operettas! Coincidence? I don’t think so… this is the basis of our society. Nonetheless, the Savoy puts on occasional “side shows” of other kinds: straight plays, broadway cabarets… even a full production of Sweeney Todd in 2003!, so look for more surprises.
Can I buy tickets ahead of time?
At this time, we do not allow tickets to be purchased ahead of time; however, we do honour ticket reservations. If you have more questions about these reservations, please feel free to contact us.
