Dearest Savoyards, grab your quill pens, brush up on your mediaevalisms’ affectations, and cling passionately to one another while thinking of faint lilies because we are proud to announce our 2025-2026 production of “Patience; or, Bunthorne’s Bride”!
First performed on April 23, 1881, Patience follows the aesthetic poet Reginald Bunthorne, whose seemingly sensitive nature and flowery language makes all the local lovesick ladies fawn over him. But Bunthorne longs only after Patience, the local milkmaid who cares nothing for love or poetry. As always with Gilbert & Sullivan, hilarity and absurd twists ensue in this satire of late Victorian poetry, fad-chasers, and wannabe intellectuals.
